Syncarpha's 'Carver Solar' Project Provides Clean Energy
Debra John — November 29, 2024The 'Carver Solar' project, developed by Syncarpha Capital, is now operational in Carver, Massachusetts, after receiving approval to operate. This project features "a 7.1 MW-DC solar array paired with a 4 MW battery storage system, situated on 28 acres of cranberry bog land leased from E.J. Pontiff Cranberries Inc." Notably, it integrates renewable energy production with the preservation of agricultural land.
In its first year, the project is expected to "generate about 9,500 MWh of clean energy, benefiting nearly 350 low-income residents and institutions such as Tufts University and Milton Academy through discounted solar energy credits." The energy is distributed through Eversource Energy under Massachusetts' Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program.
Furthermore, the battery storage system stores excess energy, releasing it during peak demand, thereby supporting grid stability, reducing fossil fuel use, and helping the state achieve its clean energy goals.
