Onshore Wind Farms

Cubico Sustainable Investments has proposed a new onshore wind farm project that would become the largest in England, situated near Manchester. This development follows the recent removal of restrictions on onshore wind projects, which had been in place for nearly a decade. The plan includes "21 high-capacity wind turbines, expected to generate over 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity—enough to power around 100,000 homes and cover more than 10% of Greater Manchester’s residential energy needs by 2030."

This project aligns with the UK government’s goals to significantly expand renewable energy sources, including "a doubling of onshore wind capacity by 2030." Cubico’s proposal also includes a multimillion-pound community wealth fund aimed at benefiting the local community, ensuring that residents see direct advantages from the initiative.
