Aviva Investors has launched a carbon removal fund that focuses on natural and technology-based climate solutions. The initial financing was provided by Aviva Investors, along with "additional undisclosed amounts from its established investment and retirement services." This fund aims "to assist large investors—such as corporations, pension funds, insurance companies, and local government pension schemes—in investing in projects related to commercial forestry, afforestation, and reforestation, especially in peatlands and mangroves." It will also support nature-based technology ventures and other carbon dioxide removal methods, including enhanced rock weathering (ERW) and soil carbon sequestration. While prioritizing low-carbon investments and CO₂ removal credits, the fund will also consider the additional benefits these projects may offer, such as enhancing biodiversity and improving water quality. Overall, the fund is designed to operate globally and address the climate investment gap between developed and emerging markets.
