'Ebb Carbon' is a startup focused on reducing atmospheric CO2 emissions through the use of saltwater processing. When oceanic factories, such as those that transform saltwater into drinkable water, discard the excess saltwater, it is more acidic than the regular saltwater in the ocean. Ebb Carbon seeks to address this acidity while also reducing CO2 emissions in the process through its innovative filtration technology.

Ebb Carbon noted that when CO2 breaks down into hydrogen ions in seawater that turns the water acidic. The filtration process from Ebb Carbon will collect saltwater as it is discarded and alter the molecules of the saltwater to transform the acid into an extractable material. The saltwater is then returned to the ocean without its acidic qualities, which allows the saltwater to absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and and create a bicarbonate that will store the CO2 for up to 10,000 years.

This process both removes the acidity in saltwater and reduces the amount of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere.
