A new initiative has been announced by Shell in the UK to help consumers offset carbon emissions in a bid to help ease the environmental effects that come with driving a gas or diesel-powered car. The company will be purchasing roughly £10 million carbon credits over the course of the next year to help customers in their bid to go carbon neutral. Drivers can automatically take part in the program by simply using their Shell Go+ app or card when making a fuel purchase at more than 1,000 Shell-branded stations.

The new program to offset carbon emissions was touted by Shell UK Country Chair Sinead Lynch who said, "Today the majority of people still use petrol and diesel. We can help them address the impact of their emissions by offsetting their fuel purchases, starting now.”
