These Carbon Batteries Can Store & Transmit Clean Energy
Rahul Kalvapalle — August 30, 2023Antora Energy, a California-based company that is working on futuristic thermal energy and electric solutions for heavy industry, has unveiled a high-tech thermal battery that is designed to be able to stash clean energy at a reduced cost compared to existing solutions.
The company, which happens to be backed by billionaire Bill Gates, developed this thermal battery by making use of carbon-based systems that make it possible for the stored energy to be released as electricity through ultra high-efficient thermophotovoltaic technology, although the energy can also be delivered in the form of heat in excess of 2,000 degrees Centigrade, which is immediately applicable to heavy industries.
What's more, the carbon heat batteries around which the system revolves are designed to be possible to assemble and shipped to their locations, with their compatibility with modular designs allowing for flexibility of application.
