Microsoft Pledges to Become Carbon Negative by the Year 2030

Microsoft recently announced its plan to become the carbon negative by the year 2030. Additionally, Microsft sated that by 2050, it will have removed more carbon from the atmosphere that was produced when the company was founded in 1975. Microsoft is also working towards eliminating 1 million metric tons of carbon this fiscal year.

In order to work toward this goal of becoming carbon negative, it is gaining access to renewable energy power, which will be able to provide more power than its data centers will need. Microsoft data centers will also no longer be powered by diesel generates, and will instead use other sources like hydrogen.

The tech giant also launched a group named Transform to Net Sero, which looks to encourage other groups to transition to carbon negative operation.
