Electra Battery Materials Corp has announced a strategic partnership with the Indigenous-owned Three Fires Group to establish Aki Battery Recycling, a joint venture focused on recycling lithium-ion battery waste. This innovative initiative aims to recover critical minerals essential for manufacturing new batteries, promoting a circular economy within the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.

By addressing the pressing challenges of battery waste management, Aki Battery Recycling is poised to reduce the carbon footprint associated with EV production significantly. The venture seeks to diminish reliance on foreign sources of minerals, fostering greater sustainability and self-sufficiency within North America's electric vehicle market.

The heart of this eco-conscious initiative will be a new facility located in Southern Ontario, strategically positioned to serve as a hub for advanced battery recycling operations.
