Savage Freedom Relief Operations Assists with Hurricane Recovery
Debra John — October 22, 2024Savage Freedom Relief Operations is aiding recovery efforts in Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. In collaboration with nonprofits and donors, the organization delivers essential supplies by air, road, and on foot to communities cut off from transportation. Since the 28th, hundreds of thousands of pounds of supplies have reached those in need, with over 150 daily volunteers and more than 740 involved overall.
The primary focus is "addressing the ongoing clean water issue, as around 100,000 residents remain without safe, running water due to reservoir contamination—schools in Buncombe County are setting up well water systems and temporary sanitation facilities to reopen." Savage Freedom Relief Operations, with donations of "1,450 tap filters and 210 bladder filters from Sawyer and 200 UV filters from Water Mission," is establishing remote filtration systems. Partnering with organizations like the Love & Life Foundation, Medic Corps, and SpaceX, they are committed to ensuring access to safe drinking water during the recovery process.
