The 'Safe and Healthy California' campaign has introduced a new statewide advertisement addressing the importance of securing funding for climate-related disaster prevention and recovery efforts. The campaign specifically focuses on the financial responsibility of polluters in mitigating the effects of environmental damage.

In California, the frequency and intensity of wildfires have been exacerbated by climate change, including factors like extreme droughts and heat waves. These fires are further influenced by environmental harm caused by large corporations over time.

Darryl Molina Sarmiento, Steering Committee Member of the Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California and Executive Director of Communities for a Better Environment (CBE), states that the "costs associated with climate-related disasters should not fall solely on consumers and taxpayers." Instead, companies that "profit from polluting and causing environmental damage should be held accountable for contributing to the financial burden of disaster recovery and prevention efforts."
