Reclaim Project Launches a Portable AI-Powered Recycling Plant

The 'Reclaim project' has introduced an innovative portable recycling plant designed to process waste efficiently in remote areas. Developed with support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program, this AI-powered system is set to transform recycling by providing automated, on-site material recovery. The initial deployment will occur in the Greek Islands, where fluctuating waste levels and limited infrastructure pose significant recycling challenges.
This cutting-edge solution features robotic sorting technology and AI-driven material recognition, allowing for precise separation and recovery of plastics and other recyclables. Housed within a transportable container, the plant can be deployed in locations with limited waste management infrastructure, including rural areas, tourist destinations, and large-scale events. Aimplas, a key project participant, has ensured that the system meets operational requirements while optimizing efficiency and adaptability.
The Reclaim project supports a circular economy by enabling local-scale recycling, reducing environmental impact and increasing material reuse. This portable technology represents a significant step forward in sustainable waste management, offering a flexible and scalable approach to recycling.
