Onsite Solar Projects

Onyx Renewables Partnered with Sol Systems for a Solar Project

Onyx Renewables, a company focused on clean energy solutions, has announced the groundbreaking of a "2.5-megawatt (MW) onsite solar project." The project is being developed in partnership with Sol Systems, the original developer, and Verde Solutions, the engineering and construction company. This project is located at the Urbana and Champaign Sanitary District (UCSD) wastewater treatment facility in Illinois.

Construction of the solar array is set to begin in spring; the system will be a ground-mounted solar setup that will provide clean energy to UCSD’s southwest wastewater treatment plant. Once complete, the solar system is expected to "generate over 4,100,000 kilowatt-hours of energy in its first year. Any extra power produced will be credited to help reduce UCSD's electricity costs."

This project shows Onyx Renewables' commitment to expanding solar energy in the Midwest, especially in Illinois, where programs like Illinois Shines help create local jobs and reduce energy costs.
