The Scruton Solar Farm will Include 88.7k Panels for 20k Households
Colin Smith — January 15, 2025The Scruton Solar Farm, developed by Ampyr Solar Europe, is a significant renewable energy project located in North Yorkshire, England. The project consists of 88,704 ground-mounted solar panels and is designed to generate clean, sustainable energy for approximately 19,400 medium-sized households. The construction of the solar farm is scheduled to begin in July 2025, with the project expected to become operational in 2026. The Scruton Solar Farm is part of the UK's Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, which aims to significantly increase the country's solar capacity to 70GW by 2035.
In addition to the solar panels, the Scruton Solar Farm will include a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) component, which will help manage energy supply and demand more efficiently. This integration of solar power with energy storage technology is expected to enhance the stability and reliability of the local grid. The project has secured a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD) scheme with the National Grid, ensuring long-term financial support and stability for the project.
