EDP Renewables will Help Microsoft Achieve its Eco Goals
Debra John — February 11, 2025EDP Renewables North America LLC (EDPR NA) has completed three large-scale solar projects in Illinois and Texas, further expanding clean energy infrastructure while contributing to local economic growth. Together, these projects "generate 400 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy, reinforcing efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable power solutions."
As part of this initiative, Microsoft has committed to "purchasing 389 MW of electricity and renewable energy credits (RECs) from these projects through virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs)." By doing so, the company strengthens its progress toward sustainability and carbon reduction goals.
With the addition of these projects, EDPR NA and Microsoft now have five operational renewable energy projects in the United States. This continued collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to advancing clean energy and supporting long-term environmental sustainability.
