Clean Energy Expansion Projects

NorthStar Clean Energy Secured $334 Million for Two Solar Projects

NorthStar Clean Energy, a subsidiary of CMS Energy, has secured $334 million in construction-to-term financing for two solar energy projects in Michigan. The projects include the 200 MW Branch Solar facility in Branch County and the 50 MW Genesee Solar facility in Genesee County. Together, these projects will provide a combined capacity of 250 MW, generating enough renewable energy to power approximately 36,000 homes annually. The financing was arranged with the support of BNP Paribas, MUFG, and SMBC as lead arrangers, highlighting the financial viability and strategic importance of these initiatives. These projects are part of NorthStar Clean Energy's broader commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and supporting Michigan's clean energy transition.

The development of these solar facilities is expected to contribute significantly to local economic growth and job creation during both construction and operation phases. The Genesee Solar project, in particular, is located in a historically underserved community, emphasizing NorthStar's focus on social responsibility alongside environmental goals. By integrating these projects into its renewable energy pipeline, NorthStar Clean Energy aims to strengthen its leadership in the renewable energy sector while advancing Michigan's sustainability objectives. This funding milestone underscores the company's dedication to delivering clean, affordable energy and fostering a more sustainable energy future.
