Coop Switzerland is taking a bold step towards sustainability with the launch of its new private-label brand, 'Nice to Save Food,' which repurposes food by-products into high-quality products. By transforming often-overlooked ingredients like okara from tofu production and oat bran from flour processing, Coop is leading the charge in reducing food waste while creating nutritious and innovative offerings. As the first Swiss retailer to develop a product line from surplus food, the company is reinforcing its commitment to a zero-waste future.

In collaboration with Swiss cookbook publisher Betty Bossi, Coop ensures that Nice to Save Food products are sustainable but also flavorful and versatile. The product line currently includes organic okara, with plans to introduce fusion chocolate made from chocolate production by-products. Coop restaurants are featuring a vegan bolognese made with malt grains during its launch week in March to highlight the brand's potential.

This initiative aligns with Coop’s broader sustainability strategy, which saw a 2.7% growth in sustainable product sales in 2024. With a portfolio of 21,500 sustainable items, Coop continues to set new standards for environmentally responsible retailing in Switzerland.
