Upcycled Ingredient Ice Creams

There's 229 million tons of food that goes unsold or uneaten each year and to reduce this number in a creative way, Salt & Straw teamed up with five brands to create The Upcycled Foods Series. These special ice cream flavors are officially Upcycled Certified, awarded by the Upcycled Food Association.

To create Day-Old Bread Pudding & Chocolate Ganache, Salt & Straw worked with Urban Gleaners for a self-explanatory ice cream that rescues fresh, unsold food. The collection features other similarly named ice cream flavors that tell the story of ingredients that have also been given a new life in a delicious way.

While Cacao Pulp & Chocolate Stracciatella Gelato helps to reduce the number of cacao pods that go to waste, Malted Chocolate Barley Milk is a vegan-friendly variety that uses barley rice protein from EverGrain, AB InBev’s sustainable ingredient business.
