Recycling Manufacturing Facilities

A Californian Recycler will Repurpose Food and Beverage Cartons

A new recycling facility in California is set to repurpose post-consumer food and beverage cartons into durable and sustainable building materials. This initiative aims to support regional recycling efforts while addressing the increasing demand for environmentally friendly construction materials.

The manufacturing process involves "shredding used gable top and aseptic cartons, which are then bonded into large, robust sheets—this high-pressure and heat treatment process eliminates the need for water, formaldehyde-based glues, and hazardous chemicals, relying solely on cartons and other recyclable materials."

Once fully operational, the facility is expected to recycle "approximately 750 tons (1.5 million pounds) of food and beverage cartons each month and it is anticipated to create around 15 jobs in the local community." The facility will source cartons from California and other areas of the West Coast, further contributing to regional recycling efforts.
