Tetra Pak and Lactalis have pioneered a packaging solution crafted from certified recycled polymers sourced from used beverage cartons, marking a breakthrough in the beverage carton industry. Initially used for Lactalis’s Puleva dairy range in Spain, this innovation reflects both companies’ commitment to reducing reliance on virgin fossil-based materials.

The recycled content, certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS, uses a mass balance attribution method to ensure the materials’ traceability and sustainability. This assures consumers of the packaging’s environmental integrity without sacrificing quality.

Tetra Pak has pledged €100 million annually for the next decade to enhance sustainable packaging, highlighting the need for collaboration across industry players, policymakers, and recyclers to scale recycled materials. As consumer interest in eco-conscious products rises, this partnership exemplifies how collective efforts can turn environmental challenges into industry-leading solutions.
