Improved Recyclable Cracker Packaging

Mondelez Overhauled its Triscuit Packaging

Mondelez International is transitioning to more sustainable packaging for its Triscuit crackers by incorporating advanced recycling technology. The company plans to use plastic made from chemical or molecular recycling for up to 50% of the bag-in-box liner films, supporting a circular economy through the use of renewable materials and energy. This shift aims to reduce reliance on fossil materials and divert over 1 million lbs of plastic waste from landfills annually.

Additionally, Mondelez is using 100% recycled paperboard for the outer box, which contains 35% post-consumer recycled content. The company's efforts align with its goal of achieving 5% recycled plastic content by 2025 and improving environmental metrics such as water and greenhouse gas emissions. By partnering with Berry Global Group Inc. and LyondellBasell, Mondelez ensures that its packaging meets high standards of sustainability and recyclability.
