Edible Food Containers

Innovation is bringing us new hope

Forest & Whale's Reuse project will help to reduce the dependence on single-use plastic in Singaporean food courts with edible food containers. The project by the multi-disciplinary design studio fights throwaway culture and helps to alleviate the incredible amount of stress placed on waste management systems.

The salad container can either be eaten or composted with food waste, since it is only made from wheat husk and a PHA lid. Created for cities that have organic composting facilities, the sustainable food serving solution needs no special infrastructure. The design is made to break down in one to three months, so even if it does end up where it shouldn't, it won't be as harmful to the environment or animals like plastics in the wild.
