Solving global warming takes more than just trees

The 'Cuna' furniture has been designed by Valeria Coello as an upcycled seating solution for the home that makes use of an otherwise disposable material: TV packaging.

The eco-friendly furniture design is constructed out of cardboard sourced from television packaging, which is traditionally quite thick to ensure rigidity during transport. The result is a bench or lounge-like seat that's inherently sturdy yet comfortable thanks to the way the cardboard material will undulate when sat on.

The 'Cuna' furniture design identifies how packaging design can be evolved to give the material an alternative purpose upon being brought into the home. This would also support a shift towards more sustainable designs in the home decor market by allowing consumers to simply recycle furniture curbside when the product has reached the end of its lifecycle.
