Hybrid Truck Charging Solutions

Blackburn Energy Utilizes Kinetic Charging to Reduce Eco Impact

Blackburn Energy's RelGen is a hybrid charging technology designed to enhance the efficiency of heavy-duty trucks. By capturing the kinetic energy generated from the vehicle's drive shaft, RelGen converts this otherwise wasted energy into electricity. This electricity is then stored and used to power auxiliary systems such as air conditioning, refrigeration, and liftgates, reducing the need for engine idling and thereby lowering fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

The RelGen system utilizes a custom center bearing and a belt to transfer the spinning force of the drive shaft to an alternator, which generates the electricity. This innovative approach not only provides a sustainable power source but also helps fleet owners and drivers save on fuel and maintenance costs. By eliminating engine idling, RelGen can reduce up to 17 tons of CO2 emissions per truck annually, contributing to environmental sustainability.

In addition to its environmental benefits, RelGen offers significant economic advantages. The system charges auxiliary batteries faster and more efficiently than traditional engine alternators, ensuring that drivers have a reliable power source for their essential equipment. This increased uptime and reduced maintenance costs make RelGen a valuable investment for fleet operators looking to improve their operational efficiency and profitability.
