Lincolnshire residents will now be able to witness the power of recycled vegetable oil as the substance is adapted for use with the National Grid Electricity Distribution's vehicles. Launched as a part of a trial period, this initiative hopes to reduce the amount of emissions produced by the National Grid's fleet of cars.

“The results of the trial have shown an 89% reduction in CO2 emissions, which is great news, and means that we can reduce our impact on the local environment in the present, while charging ahead to the electric future,” said Christopher Mayell, from National Grid Electricity Distribution.

The new hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) has been used to power 400 commercial vans and 600 electric cars across the company's service areas.
