Biological Recycling Parkas

Stella McCartney and Protein Evolution, a US biological recycling company, teamed up to create the world's first garment made with biological recycling. The parka jacket tapped into the power of artificial intelligence and biology to produce raw ingredients of polyester from plastic waste instead of fossil fuels, and it represents a breakthrough as the fashion industry searches for more sustainable alternatives to plastic-derived materials. The process of creating this innovative jacket involved Protein Evolution’s Biopure technology, which uses AI-designed enzymes to break down waste into raw materials, which are said to be indistinguishable from the petroleum-derived raw materials that are currently used in polyester manufacturing. As such, there's no need for new fossil fuels to create polyester.
