Bio-Made Fabric Collections

Natural Material Studio and Frama Created Biodegradable Textiles

Natural Material Studio and Frama collaborated to create a collection of biodegradable materials. The materials used include algae, clay, and foam. Three different fabrics were made using these bio-based materials that were then transformed into curtains, drapes, and clothes.

The collaboration is part of Natural Material Studio's research into different types of natural materials. The fabrics have an organic style and feature elements that tie them to their original bio-states. one example of this is the algae textiles, which feature spores that create a mold-like feel. According to Natural Material Studio, "the seaweed textiles contain live algae, which was used for pigmentations and coloring. They are alive and breathe the air. We didn't know exactly how the algae pigmentation would end up looking."
