Natural Material Studio & Zuzanna Skurka Create Brick Textiles

Copenhagen-based studio Natural Material Studio works together with designer Zuzanna Skurka on Brick Textiles. This is an installation that takes place during Milan Design Week and it is essentially a soft bio textile that is constructed from a surplus of bricks. This is on display currently at Alcova, which is a traveling exhibition platform.
The textile is made from repurposed bricks that were previously classified as waste from demolition projects. These are then crushed down and then bonded together using Procel, which is a natural softener that is protein-based. The result is a reddish color and hangs from the roof along metal bars in the room to create a dramatic form in a brightly lit space.
