The Arla recycled plastic milk crates have been announced by the brand as a new initiative that will be rolled out in Denmark next year to help curb emissions. 300,000 of the 100% recycled crates will be introduced into the brands distribution system, which will eliminate the need for virgin plastic materials and contribute towards the company's commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

The crates are crafted from recycled plastic from the automotive industry and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 30% in the first year alone.

Head of Arla Denmark Jakob B. Knuden spoke about the new recycled plastic milk crates saying, "We’re very devoted to making our dairy products more sustainable, and climate friendly packaging is a central part of the solution. We’re of course aiming to produce as few new milk crates as possible, but when new ones are needed, it’s important for us to make the greenest choice even though it means we have to go with a darker look.”
