Reusable Egg Cartons
Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs are Packed in Recycled Plastic
Laura McQuarrie — December 17, 2019Waste reduction is top-of-mind for environmentally conscious consumers, who are interested in making purchases that come in sustainable product packaging solutions—to help consumers reduce their carbon footprint, Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs are now available in the industry's first reusable egg carton. The cartons made of recycled, durable, BPA-free plastic are currently being trialed at select stores in New Hampshire and Vermont, featuring a design that can be washed and reused. After purchasing a reusable carton, consumers are able to fill it up again from Pete and Gerry's loose egg displays.
As it's estimated that the average person in the United States eats 279 eggs each year, this reusable egg carton design has the potential to save thousands of cartons from entering the waste and recycling stream annually.
