In the bid to live more sustainably, the environmental organization A Plastic Planet launched a plastic-free material platform for architects and designers. Dubbed 'PlasticFree,' this is a subscription-based service that provides professionals with the knowledge they need to make greener decisions in the course of their design projects. As of right now, the plastic-free material database boasts " in-depth reports on more than 100 plastic alternatives, offering key insights into their properties, production, and sourcing."

As businesses are moving away from plastic materials and governments in North America and Europe are outright banning single-use items such as plastic bags and straws, the material database by A Plastic Planet was just a matter of time. The subscription-based platform takes it to the next level by "helping designers and business leaders eradicate one trillion pieces of plastic waste from the global economy by 2025."
