Microplastic-Free Biodegradable Straws

Stora Enso and Sulapac have announced their latest creation in the form of biodegradable straws that will offer consumers a more sustainable way to use the items on a daily basis.

The new straws are made from a biocomposite material that consists of wood and natural binders that allow for a sturdy product that will work well for the consumer and break down once disposed of. This will work to effectively keep microplastics out of our environment from one very common source and could help to push other packaging manufacturers to follow suit with similar sustainable solutions.

Speaking on the new biodegradable straws, EVP of Stora Enso's Consumer Board Division, Annica Bresky, said, "This is an important step for Stora Enso and showcases our long-term commitment to gradually replacing fossil-based materials with renewable solutions.
