LyondellBasell is joining a value chain alliance that focuses on transforming marine scrap into innovative plastics. The breakthrough CirculenRecover PP TRC 2179N, developed by the company, enables the use of recycled material in injection molding. This unique product development has since provided the company with new possibilities for utilizing recovered plastics.

The collaboration involves collecting and categorizing end-of-life fishing nets, which are then processed to create high-quality plastic recyclate. LyondellBasell blends this material with virgin compounds to produce the CirculenRecover PPC TRC 2179N grade. These injection-molded components become trim pieces for the visible areas in the interiors of various car models.

LyondellBasell anticipates the widespread application of this advancement in large-scale production will contribute to new methods in sustainable plastic utilization.
