The e-waste collection program by Hutch Sri Lanka, in partnership with Ceylon Waste Management, is a significant step toward responsible electronic waste disposal. By installing collection stations at its flagship and brand stores, Hutch encourages customers to recycle old mobile phones and batteries, helping to reduce landfill waste and support a circular economy.

To further incentivize participation, Hutch is offering exclusive rewards -- customers who recycle smartphones receive 50GB of data valid for a year, while those disposing of 2G phones earn 500 minutes of talk time. Ceylon Waste Management ensures the safe handling of collected devices, adhering to Sri Lanka’s data protection regulations.

With the rapid rise of electronic waste, Hutch’s initiative strengthens corporate responsibility by promoting sustainable practices. This effort minimizes environmental harm and fosters a recycling culture, setting an example for other industries in Sri Lanka to prioritize sustainability.
