The CFM Rise Engine Reduces Fuel Consumption by 20%
Michael Hemsworth — June 19, 2023The CFM Rise engine is a new version of the original GE propfan designed with fuel savings in mind to help operators reduce the amount of consumption that takes place during regular flights.
The engine is rated to provide a 20% reduction in fuel use during flights and also keeps noise concerns top of mind by meeting stringent requirements for those in the cabin as well as on the ground. The engine is capable of being mounted over the tail wings on an aircraft or under a top-mounted wing and would efficiently power the plane forward with optimal results.
Vice President of Engineering for GE Aerospace Mohamed Ali spoke on the CFM Rise engine saying, "The industry can’t reach its net zero ambition by 2050 with status quo incremental improvements in fuel efficiency. Revolutionary technologies are needed. That’s why we believe the time for open fan is now, an advanced engine architecture that could unlock the single greatest jump in generational engine efficiency that CFM has ever achieved. This is supported by our most comprehensive testing roadmap yet to prove out and mature these technologies for the future of flight.”
