Decathlon and Autodesk have joined forces to leverage the 'Design & Make' platform to create a next-generation diving fin scheduled for market release in 2025. This collaboration, known as the 'React Fin' project, aims to reduce the product's carbon footprint by 50%.
The innovative React Fin is crafted from recycled plastic and designed as a mono-material product, ensuring it can be recycled without disassembly at the end of its life cycle. This sustainable approach aligns with Decathlon's commitment to environmental responsibility.
“Our goal was to create a disruptive product that departs from traditional models and embraces a completely new approach. We decided to start from scratch," said Armand Macé, product engineer at Decathlon.
Decathlon has utilized Autodesk's Generative Design tools to achieve these ambitious goals. These advanced tools enable the designing of highly efficient and sustainable products by exploring numerous design alternatives and optimizing material usage and performance.
