The 'Carbyn' Flosser Eliminates the Need for Conventional Plastic
Michael Hemsworth — January 8, 2021References: yankodesign
Dental flossers are quite common as a single-use oral hygiene tool but feature a completely plastic construction that is problematic for both consumers and the environment, so the 'Carbyn' flosser has been designed as a more sustainable alternative.
The flosser is made with a composite of two materials including PHA bioplastic and Biochar, which enables it to break down after being disposed of. The Biochar in the construction will actually work to capture carbon in the environment around it before safely degrading into the ground in a garden, the landfill or the natural environment.
The 'Carbyn' flosser is the design work of Jessica Smith and is part of the International Top 20 of the James Dyson Award for 2020.
