Covalent’s ‘AirCarbon Sunglasses’ are carbon-negative and fashionable. The brand has three styles available for purchase — the ‘Berguson AirCarbon Sunglasses,’ the ‘Huntington AirCarbon Sunglasses,’ and the ‘Hancock AirCarbon Sunglasses’ -- all of which come in a sleek Mineral Black color. Consumers should also note that they are the world’s first carbon-negative sunglasses as they are made with a material called ‘AirCarbon.’
According to the website, creating the biomaterial comes from a process in which “natural microorganisms in the ocean that covalently bond carbon and oxygen dissolved in saltwater to make an energy storage material inside of their cells called PHB.” From here, the brand has enhanced that process using saltwater and renewable energy to create a material called AirCarbon. Fashionable products can be made from AirCarbon as it is a fantastic eco-friendly replacement for plastic and leather.
