Karün Eyewear Uses Celion Material for a Sustainable Design

Karün Eyewear has announced a new cellulose acetate material called Celion that's crafted out of an unexpected substance to give its frames a decidedly eco-friendly profile. The material is crafted out of repurposes cigarette butts and is created thanks to advanced technology from Chile-based cleantech company IMEKO. The eyewear thus helps to combat against the estimated 5.6-trillion cigarette butts that are discarded each year.

The new Celion frames from Karün Eyewear are also reported to have a 40% reduction in their carbon footprint when compared to virgin acetate and are formulated with no toxic additives. The material is also infinitely recyclable to help foster and contribute towards a circular economy where products are transformed into new ones instead of thrown away.
