Carbon-Free Dairy Evaporators
The Dairy Evaporator eZero Enables Sustainable Dairy Processing
Georgia Wray Norsten — February 1, 2025GEA has introduced a carbon-free dairy evaporator, a breakthrough in dairy processing technology designed to eliminate CO₂ emissions while significantly reducing energy consumption. The new 'Dairy Evaporator eZero' aims to help manufacturers address rising energy costs and regulatory demands for sustainability by cutting energy use by up to 60% compared to traditional evaporators. This innovation supports the production of milk powder, infant formula, and whey powder without compromising efficiency or product quality.
The eZero evaporator is engineered for seamless integration with existing mechanical and thermal vapor recompression systems, allowing dairy producers to retrofit their equipment for improved sustainability. By incorporating an ammonia heat pump system, it efficiently transfers heat to a low-pressure steam generator, creating a dual-loop system for optimized temperature control. This enables manufacturers to reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining high-performance processing.
As the dairy industry faces increasing pressure to adopt sustainable solutions, GEA’s eZero evaporator represents a significant step forward. By offering a scalable and energy-efficient alternative, it aligns economic benefits with environmental goals, ensuring that dairy producers can meet sustainability targets while optimizing production processes.
