Airbus Pilots 'Book and Claim' Approach to Accelerate Adoption

The 'Book and Claim' system is at the heart of Airbus’ latest sustainability initiative, offering a more scalable and inclusive way to drive the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) across the industry. The company’s new pilot program allows customers to purchase SAF certificates, enabling them to claim the environmental benefits even if the fuel is consumed elsewhere. This approach removes logistical barriers for smaller operators and those far from SAF supply points, significantly broadening access.
Working with partners such as SMBC Aviation Capital, AerCap, and Luxaviation, Airbus is facilitating the purchase of SAF certificates and managing sustainability credentials through the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials. By financially securing these certificates and redistributing them, Airbus is stimulating demand and helping to grow the global SAF market.
This initiative complements Airbus’ broader decarbonization roadmap, which includes a net-zero goal by 2050. By integrating innovative programs like Book and Claim, Airbus reinforces its role in transforming aviation’s environmental footprint.
