Aseptic carton production has taken a significant step forward, with SIG inaugurating its first production facility in India. The €90 million plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is set to produce up to 4 billion aseptic cartons annually, providing a sustainable packaging solution for dairy and beverage producers. Aseptic cartons reduce energy consumption and minimize food waste by enabling long-term storage without refrigeration, aligning with India’s growing need for eco-friendly packaging alternatives.

This investment enhances SIG’s operational efficiency and strengthens the Indian-Swiss economic partnership, as highlighted during the inauguration ceremony attended by Swiss and Indian officials. The facility is expected to generate over 300 local jobs while reducing delivery lead times for key customers. Since entering the Indian market in 2018, SIG has experienced significant growth, reflecting the increasing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

Looking ahead, SIG has committed an additional €50 million to establish a local extrusion line by 2027, further boosting production capabilities. This expansion solidifies SIG’s role in India’s fast-growing food and beverage industry while promoting long-term environmental sustainability.
