Environmental Athletic-Game Initiatives

The Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) has "allocated $500,000 from the MMSB Waste Management Trust Fund to support sustainability initiatives at the 2025 Canada Games; this funding will contribute to waste reduction efforts, promote environmental responsibility, and support educational programs aimed at fostering long-term awareness." By prioritizing sustainability, the initiative seeks to minimize waste while encouraging responsible environmental practices.

Taking place from August 8 to 25, the 2025 Canada Games will "bring together more than 4,800 athletes, managers, and coaches across 19 sports." Through this sponsorship, the event will integrate eco-friendly measures designed to reduce its environmental impact. Additionally, these initiatives will engage participants and attendees, promoting sustainable habits both during the games and beyond. This collaboration reflects a broader commitment to environmental stewardship within large-scale sporting events.
