Sustainable Golf Equipment Commitments
SRIXON is Aiming for Complete Sustainability by 2050
Colin Smith — January 21, 2025Srixon, a global leader in golf ball technology and innovation, is committed to achieving complete sustainability by 2050. As part of the Sumitomo Rubber Group, which also owns Cleveland Golf and XXIO, Srixon has implemented a clear timeline of eco-friendly initiatives across all its operations. The company focuses on reducing CO2 emissions, increasing the use of biomass and recycled raw materials, and developing sustainable products. Srixon has already made significant progress by drastically reducing plastic usage in packaging and achieving zero emissions at its manufacturing facilities in Ichijima and Miyazaki, Japan since 2005.
To further its sustainability goals, Srixon has introduced innovative products such as the Z-STAR+e golf ball, which incorporates biomass-based materials while maintaining high performance standards. The outer layer of this golf ball contains urethane derived from biopolyol extracted from corn, reducing carbon dioxide emissions during manufacturing. Srixon's internal standards for sustainable products account for CO2 emissions, biomass content, and recycled content of raw materials, aiming to contribute to a circular economy. The company's efforts highlight its commitment to playing a responsible role in protecting the planet's future.
