Resource Efficiency-Focused Labels

Speira Announced 'RIVOS' Sustainability-First Label

The RIVOS label from Speira represents a significant step towards sustainable aluminium production. The label is applied to aluminium produced with particularly low emissions, reflecting Speira's commitment to environmental stewardship. By combining efficient production methods, recycled content, and renewable energy sources, RIVOS products are designed to minimize carbon footprints while maintaining the highest standards of quality and durability. The label certifies products with a carbon footprint of a maximum of 4.5 t CO2 per ton of aluminium, with a goal to further reduce this to 0.5 t CO2 per ton of aluminium.

RIVOS products leverage a threefold synergy effect to achieve their sustainability goals. This includes a high proportion of external scrap and low-carbon primary metal, both of which significantly lower the environmental footprint. Additionally, Speira takes advantage of regional opportunities for sustainable energy use, such as harnessing hydropower from fjords and waterfalls in Norway. This integrated approach ensures that RIVOS products are not only eco-friendly but also maintain high performance and reliability across diverse applications, including architecture, construction, shipbuilding, transport, beverage cans, industrial applications, consumer goods, automotive, and foil.

By introducing the RIVOS label, Speira aims to promote a circular economy and support global efforts to achieve net-zero emissions. The label provides transparency and assurance to customers, enabling them to make well-informed decisions for the lowest-carbon, most-circular aluminium. Through these efforts, Speira is committed to leading the way in sustainable aluminium production without compromising on quality, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
