The conceptual 'Ocean' washing machine has been designed by Martina Mancini as an ergonomic, accessible and eco-focused appliance for the modern home that would provide range of benefits for consumers to enjoy.
The washing machine maintains a size that is compact enough for the average home, while also being focused on accessibility to accommodate those who are differently abled and/or who might use mobility aids. The appliance would perform a post-cycle water purification process instead of dumping it down the drain to filter out microplastics and save the water for use once again.
The conceptual 'Ocean' washing machine is imagined with a removable filter that could be recycled after replacement to transform captured microplastics into something new.
