Upcycled Plastic Slat Houses

no.ma architecten's Dragon House Features Plastic Scale Wraps

Dragon House, redesigned by Belgian firm no.ma architecten, features a dynamic, high-performance exterior that wraps around a series of split levels and staggered spaces, creating a home that feels alive and changes depending on your perspective or the time of day. Large windows let in natural light and offer views of nearby farmland and abbey spires, while solid facades ensure privacy and block less appealing sights.

Two oversized canopies—one for bikes and the other as a raised green space—add shading and a sense of rhythm to the layout. The house’s exterior is covered in shiny plastic diamond-shaped slats, a first for Belgium, made from upcycled materials. This sustainable, color-changing facade gives the home a unique, almost mythical look.
