Vehicle Recycling Initaitives

The Federal Government of Nigeria Will Recycle End-of-Life Vehicles

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its dedication to enacting the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Regulation, a key initiative designed to safeguard the environment while unlocking economic potential.

"Of the 500,000 vehicles imported into Nigeria annually, about 400,000 are used. This leaves the country highly exposed to environmental hazards. This waste is inevitable. It is crucial that we adhere to this regulation, which is designed to protect our environment from the dangers posed by ageing vehicles," said Senator John Eno, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment.

This regulation seeks to address the growing concern of vehicle waste by establishing guidelines for the safe disposal and recycling of end-of-life vehicles. The government aims to reduce the environmental impact of abandoned and discarded vehicles, promote sustainable recycling practices, and create new business opportunities. The ELV Regulation is vital in advancing a circular economy and minimizing waste.
