The 'RefRecycle' Initiative Sends You a Box to Donate Clothes
Christopher Magsambol — August 25, 2015The 'RefRecycle' initiative makes it much easier to donate clothes. The eco-friendly program sends a box to people's homes which is then filled with old or unwanted garments. Each of the boxes are then sold in bulk to deserving communities in over 50 countries.
Because the clothes will be given to use as-is, RefRecycle asks that each donation is lightly used. The boxes are sent to Community Recycling, a partnering organization, where they is sorted and regulated to ensure that each garment is in good condition.
RefRecycle pokes fun at those who rarely donate clothes by sending them a pamphlet called "The lazy person's guid to recycling." RefRecycle also hosts a social media contest where donators are asked to take pictures in their old clothes with the hashtag #OutfitOfThePast -- winners are given a $500 voucher while contributing to a good cause.
