Brikoole is an innovative passive cooling system that aims to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions through a "breathable brick." The innovation was designed by two students from the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation. The system won Malaysia’s James Dyson Award, a prestigious international design competition.

Inspired by natural ventilation systems like termite mounds and wind catchers, Brikoole’s creators — Wayne Chong Chee Kin and Nixon Ng Kah Zun, sought to develop a solution that addresses the inefficiencies of traditional air conditioning in tropical climates. The "breathable brick" design allows air to pass through a moist mesh, which will enable the cooling of indoor spaces without relying on electricity. The system can lower indoor temperatures by up to 6.2°C.
