They partner with Candela Peru, an organization dedicated to protecting the Peruvian Amazon rainforest and its wildlife. This ensures Lush's Brazil nut oil contributes to conservation efforts.

Furthermore, over a decade ago, Lush acquired forest concessions in Madre de Dios and Ucayali, Peru. Instead of logging, they partnered with local communities to preserve the forests' biodiversity. In Madre de Dios, they collaborate with the Castañeros people who hand-harvest nuts sustainably. Harvested nuts are then cold-processed locally in a solar-powered facility, minimizing environmental impact. This vitamin-E rich oil finds its way into popular Lush products like Candy Rain conditioner.

The positive impact extends beyond the Madre de Dios concession. A recent study in Ucayali revealed a thriving primate population, with nearly three times the density found outside the concession. Lush's approach demonstrates how sourcing practices can actively protect and restore natural ecosystems, offering a model for responsible business practices in contrast to the damaging effects of many traditional supply chains.
